We built a virtual crowd of 77 incredible people

Through December, Standing Tall ran it’s Christmas campaign with Founder, Christy Acton going out every day on the Birmingham streets around the clock having conversations about homelessness.

It proved to be an incredible journey. We spoke to Joe Hudson from Ibstock Brick, Mo Moalim from Friendship Community Housing, Sally from the Choir with No Name, Rev Gerard Goshawk from Six Ways Baptist Church in Erdington, Tara Tomes from East Village PR, Arihant Parekh from Soho Road BID, Monsignor Tim Menezes from St Chad’s Catherdral, Phil Yates, a local businessman, Peter Connolly from Norton’s Bar in Digbeth, Ben Rafiqi and Alan Strang from Let Feed’s Brum, Matt Lambert from Enterprise Homes in Wolverhampton and Simon Carlo, a food blogger in Birmingham!!

At the same time, we were trying to raise £6000 to enable 3 people to start stable work in the New Year. 77 people donated on Crowdfunder and we raised £7,000. We are so chuffed. The extra £1100 will go towards the salary of a fourth person moving off the Birmingham streets for good. Within the donations we received £500 from M Lambe Construction and £500 from Paragon Bank.

You can’t do things by yourself. We’ve just welcomed 77 new fans to enable individuals to start stable work and move themselves out of the situation they are in, for good! Happy New Year!
